Behaviour Mentor with a child in Year 3
5 days per week. 08:30 – 16:00

Requirements: Candidate needs to be a white male as the student has racist undertones. Needs to be thick skinned and comfortable supporting the child outside of the classroom. 

About Us: We are working with a supportive primary school in Brixton, committed to providing an inclusive and nurturing environment for all our students. We are currently seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to work closely with a Year 3 student with significant behavioural needs.
Job Overview: As a Behaviour Mentor, you will provide tailored support to a Year 3 student, helping them navigate social interactions and develop positive behaviours. Your role will involve working both inside and outside the classroom to establish boundaries, structures, and strategies that promote a positive learning experience.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Work one-to-one with a Year 3 student, providing individualised support to address behavioural challenges.
  • Assist the student in developing social skills and self-regulation strategies.
  • Establish and maintain clear boundaries and routines to support the student’s behaviour.
  • Support the student in various settings, including the classroom, playground, and during transitions.
  • Monitor and record the student’s progress, providing feedback to the teaching team and parents.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to create and implement effective behaviour plans.
  • Foster a safe and supportive environment, encouraging the student to express themselves positively.
  • Participate in training and professional development related to behaviour management and special educational needs.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with children with high needs or in an SEN school setting.
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and techniques.
  • Thick-skinned and resilient, able to handle challenging situations calmly and effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Male candidates preferred to address the specific needs of the student.
