Pertemps Education is seeking a dedicated BSL Teaching Assistant to join a mainstream secondary school in Hounslow. This rewarding role involves supporting deaf students in accessing the curriculum and reaching their full potential. The successful candidate will utilise their British Sign Language (BSL) skills to provide essential communication support and help create an inclusive, supportive learning environment.

This position is ideal for a compassionate and experienced professional passionate about empowering students with hearing impairments to succeed in a mainstream setting.

Pay: £95.00 – £120.00 per day

Key Responsibilities:

• Support deaf students in accessing lessons and school activities using British Sign Language (BSL).
• Work closely with teachers to deliver tailored learning plans and adapt resources to meet individual needs.
• Provide one-to-one or small group support to help students overcome learning barriers and achieve their goals.
• Promote students’ social, emotional, and academic development, fostering independence and confidence.
• Collaborate with teachers, the SENCo, and other staff to ensure the school environment is inclusive and accessible for all.
• Monitor and report on student progress, maintaining effective communication with staff and parents.
• Contribute to a safe, supportive, and positive school environment for all students.

Qualifications and Skills:

• A Level 3 qualification in British Sign Language (BSL) is essential.
• Previous experience working in a school or supporting students with hearing impairments is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of the needs of deaf students in a mainstream setting and inclusive education practices.
• Patience, empathy, and excellent interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with students and staff.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
